Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll Season Two Features Musical About Potato Famine
Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll premieres tonight for it’s second season, starring (and written by) Denis Leary along with John Corbett, Bobby Kelly, John Ales, Elizabeth Gillies, and Elaine Hendrix.
At the end of season one, The Assassins were going through a rough patch with Gigi (Gillies) breaking up with Flash (Corbett) and Bam Bam and Rehab turning their talents to create music’s newest sensation, BeastCore. While it seems BeastCore was – for better or for worse – a short lived phenomenon, season two has promise of other interesting musical adventures and explorations brought to light by the electric duo.
“This year, I’m with Rehab most of the time,” Kelly said. “We’re in a lot of controversy this year. Campbell Scott is in this season, who is amazing, and he takes the potato famine song from last year that Rehab wrote and kind of make it into a Hamilton version, and I actually kind of go with Campbell Scott this year and he kind of becomes my mentor and he tries to change Bam Bam for the better.”
Kelly said Bam Bam and Rehab literally spend part of the season putting on a Broadway-style production of the potato famine starring Campbell Scott as himself. John Ales, who plays Bam Bam’s counterpart, Rehab, said his character has a hard time getting on-board with the musical idea.
“Rehab is not about it, he does not like to share his work with the world for money. He wants people to love it, so it’s a constant struggle all year for me.” Ales said.
Ales and Kelly said things really get interesting when the pair move in together, which, if you watched the show at all, promises of plenty of laughs.
Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll premieres on FX tonight at 10pm ET.
