NCAA on Sling TV: #19 Baylor at #6 Oklahoma

Mar 01, 2016 by Scott Ross

The Baylor Bears maintained their place in the polls last week despite losing to then-number two Kansas 66-60, but they recovered to defeat Texas Christian 86-71. Baylor jumped out to an early lead over TCU, opening the game with 11 unanswered points and never looked back. Taurean Prince and Jonathan Motley led Baylor with 22 points apiece on a combined 17-of-27 shooting as the Bears dominated the board 43-18. The Bears are 21-8 overall, 10-6 in the Big 12.

Oklahoma took it on the chin Saturday, losing 76-63 to the Texas Longhorns on a night when the Sooners’ star guard Buddy Hield scored 33 points on 12-of-24 shooting. Unfortunately for Hield, his teammates made just 11 of 37 (29.7 percent) from the field and the Sooners lost the battle of the boards, 38-29. Since ascending to the top of the polls on February 1, the Sooners have gone just 4-4, including losses to lesser lights Kansas State and Texas Tech. Yet, they’ve fallen no lower than their current number six ranking with a record of 22-6, 10-6 in the Big 12. Once a virtual lock for a number one seed in the tournament, the Sooners need to finish strong if they want to impress the selection committee.

Watch the #19 Baylor Bears vs. the #6 Oklahoma Sooners at 8pm ET Tuesday on ESPN 2.
