NCAA Basketball on Sling TV: Texas at #3 Oklahoma

Feb 08, 2016 by Scott Ross

Javan Felix, the 5-11 junior guard out of New Orleans, led the Longhorns with 20 points to a 69-59 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday. The Longhorns have won 6 of their last 7 to bring their overall record to 16-7, and are 7-3 in Big 12 play, good enough for second place in the conference. Texas has not yet cracked the top 25 this season, however, despite a 4-2 record against ranked opponents, including wins over Iowa State and North Carolina.

Oklahoma lost Saturday for the second time since taking over the top spot on the AP rankings, losing to 80-69 to unranked Kansas State, despite 23 points from Player of the Year candidate Buddy Hield. The Sooners fell victim to a cold shooting touch from beyond the 3-point line, making just 6 of 24 from downtown. The loss was one too many for AP voters, who finally knocked Oklahoma down to #3. The Sooners are now 19-3 and 7-3 in Big 12 play, good for a three-way tie for second place in the conference with Texas and #6 Kansas.

Watch the Texas Longhorns vs. the Oklahoma Sooners at 9pm ET Monday on ESPN.
