MLB on Sling TV: Braves at Marlins on FS1; Other Games on FOX Sports Networks

Apr 16, 2016 by Sarah Moffatt

Atlanta Braves (Norris 0-2, 6.00) at Miami Marlins (Koehler 0-1, 2.84) 7:10pm ET on FS1

Now with his fourth team in four seasons, Bud Norris officially qualifies as a journeyman starter and, thus far in 2016, he’s pitched like one. Norris got lit up on Monday as the Nationals pounded out nine hits in just five innings and scored five times, setting the stage for a 6-4 Nats win. Norris had one solid season in 2014: in a year when he plunked a league-high 14 guys – a third of his career total – and had a BABIP about 30 points below his career norm. Whether that 15-8 season was a product of pitching aggressively inside, dumb luck, or a combination of both, we may never know.

Here’s a great example of how stupid the rules regarding which pitcher gets the win or the loss in the baseball game: The other day, Tom Koehler was on the hill for the Marlins in the seventh inning of a 1-1 game, he struck out the first batter and gave up a single to the second batter. At this point he was pulled for reliever Chris Narveson, who gave up a double and an intentional walk to load the bases. Edwin Jackson then came on in relief and surrendered a run-scoring single, a popfly, and another run-scoring single, to make it a 3-1 game. The final was 4-2 and Koehler (who, let’s be honest, wasn’t great, giving up eight huts and four walks in six-and-one-third innings) got the L. In a game that he left tied, he was charged with two runs, causing the go-ahead run scored on a pitch thrown by the guy who relieved the guy that relieved Koehler. Whatever, man.
