NCAA on Sling TV: #3 Virginia at #12 Miami

Feb 22, 2016 by Scott Ross

The Virginia Cavaliers took a well-deserved week off following a 73-53 defeat of North Carolina State last Monday with Malcolm Brogdon pouring in 22 points along with five assists. The win brought the Cavs’ record to 21-5 overall, 10-4 in the ACC, and helped rinse out the bad taste of a 63-62 loss to Duke two days earlier. The Cavaliers made the Sweet 16 the last two seasons and hope to go even further this year.

The Hurricanes took it on the chin Saturday as the #5 North Carolina Tar Heels trounced them 96-71 in a game that wasn’t as close as the score indicates. The ‘Canes trailed by as much as 38 midway through the second half before slowly chipping away at the difference during garbage time. Sheldon McClellan, Miami’s leading scorer this season with 16.1 points a game, quietly came into the contest, making just two of four from the floor in 18 minutes of play. The loss dropped Miami to 21-5 overall, 10-4 in the ACC and causing them to fall a notch from #11 in the country to #12.

Watch the Virginia Cavaliers vs. the Miami Hurricanes at 7pm ET Monday on ESPN.
