Feb 29, 2016 by Scott Ross

Happy Leap Day, everybody!

The Jayhawks on Saturday clinched a share of their twelfth straight Big 12 title with a 67-58 win over Texas Tech. Kansas’ star senior forward Perry Ellis had an off day, scoring just eight points on four-of-13 shooting, but sixth man Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and guard Frank Mason picked up the slack, scoring 17 and 16 respectively. The win makes Kansas 25-4 overall, 13-3 in the Big 12, and keeps them firmly in the hunt for a number one seed come the tournament.

Oklahoma’s Buddy Hield dropped 33 points on Texas on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough as the Longhorns dominated the game, outshooting the Sooners 45 percent to 38 percent and outrebounding them 38 to 29 on their way to a huge and convincing upset victory. The win was revenge for a 63-60 defeat on February 8 powered by five Longhorns scoring in double figures led by Isaiah Taylor with 18, as well as five assists. Texas is now 19-10 and in third place in Big 12 play at 10-6.

Watch the Kansas Jayhawks vs. the Texas Longhorns at 9pm ET Monday on ESPN.
