NCAA Basketball on Sling TV: Oklahoma at Louisiana State

Jan 28, 2016 by Scott Ross

#1 Oklahoma Sooners vs. LSU Tigers (5pm ET Saturday, ESPN)
A tough conference loss to #14 Iowa State last week wasn’t enough to knock the Sooners from atop the rankings. Since then, they’ve restored poll-voters’ faith by beating #13 Baylor by 10 and then burying Texas Tech 91-67, as Buddy Hield scored 30. Hield is now averaging 25.9 points per game, second-best in the country. The Sooners are now 17-2 overall and 6-2 in the Big 12, where they’re tied for first with West Virginia and Baylor.

LSU is a more humble 13-7, but features freshman Ben Simmons – perhaps Hield’s biggest competition to win the Wooden Award and be the top pick in the NBA’s June draft. The 6’-10’ Aussie is third in the nation in rebounding at 12.7, scores 19.8 a game, and averages 4.9 assists and 1.8 steals. He’s on pace to be the only NCAA player in over 20 years to go 19-12-4. Basically, he’s the total package.

Watch the Oklahoma Sooners vs. the LSU Tigers at 5pm ET Saturday on ESPN.
