NBA Playoffs on Sling TV: Round 2, Electric Boogaloo
There cannot possibly be a better metaphor for Round 2 of the NBA Playoffs than a 30-year-old hip-hop movie reference, right? Right.
If Round 1 didn’t make you want to pop-n-lock and dance on the ceiling, ain’t nobody love you better. Makes me happy, makes me feel this way. (Chaka Khan? Anybody? No?)
Also: Steph Curry is the MVP! Let’s all do the worm in celebration.
Warriors (1) vs. Memphis (5)
Golden State made it look easy against New Orleans and there is no reason to think it will be any different against the Grizzlies , even though Memphis dispatched Portland like it was nothing. Splash Brothers are in effect. Should be an easy path to the next round for the Warriors.
Clippers (3) vs. Rockets (2)
Los Angeles was taken to the limit by San Antonio, as expected. But the Clippers prevailed and while that bodes well for their title hopes, they face a well-rested Houston team that had little trouble expelling Dallas. Will that matter? Probably not. The Clippers seem destined to battle the Warriors of the conference title, and if L.A. can beat the Spurs, they can beat anyone.
Hawks (1) vs. Wizards (5)
Atlanta had more trouble with Brooklyn than most people expected and they now face a Washington squad that swept Toronto. Should the Hawks be nervous? Yes. Yes, they should. But maybe the Nets were the wake-up call the Hawks needed.
Bulls (3) vs. Cavaliers (2)
There’s no Love in Cleveland and without their star forward (or J.R. Smith), can the Cavs overcome a Bulls team with a healthy Derrick Rose? Well, Cleveland still has LeBron. With LeBron, they could beat a hurricane. Maybe even an earthquake and a tidal wave. But this series has what the Spurs-Clippers matchup had in the last round: the promise of a Game 7 battle. This should go down to the buzzer and is the series to watch.
