Adam Conley scuffled a bit coming out of the gate in 2016, compiling a 5.16 ERA over 19 ⅓ innings in his first 4 starts, his first start being cut short at 1 inning due to a rain delay. But on April 29, he had a no hitter through 7 and two-thirds, before giving way to the bullpen in a 6-3 win over the Brewers. That day kicked off an 11-start run in which he pitched 64 innings with 3.09 ERA, though his last start was a hot mess as he gave up 5 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks despite striking out 9 in 4 and a third against Detroit.
Matt Wisler has been the very essence of mediocre in 2016, as he does nothing particularly well, as all his rate stats – ERA, FIP, WHIP, SO/BB, SO/9, BB/9… – are middle of the pack. The only thing he does better than your average bear is eat innings, as he’s thrown 94 ⅔ thus far. But when you’re on a team as bad as the Braves, and you get just 3.07 runs of support, you end up 3-7. Case in point, his last start, in which he went 6 innings, struckout 9 and gave up just 2 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks, but got a no-decision in a 5-3 loss to the Indians.
