Last night, in this crazy little thing called Major League Baseball, Max Scherzer struck out 20 Tigers to tie the record for a 9-inning game, as the Nats beat Detroit 3-2; Noah “Thor” Syndergaard hit 2 homers, driving in all 4 of the Mets runs, and he pitched 8 innings, giving up just 2 runs, and striking out 6, as the Mets beat the Dodgers 4-2; the Padres twice smote the mighty Cubs 7-4 and then 1-0; Mark Trumbo twice went yard, as the Orioles pounded the Twins 9-2; future Hall-of-Famer Adrian Beltre drove in what proved to be the winning run,5 as the Rangers bested the White Sox 6-5; Marwin Gonzalez hit a 2-run homer in the 16th to give the Astros a 6-5 walk-off win over the Indians; Nolan Arenado’s 8th inning homer was the difference in the Rockies 8-7 win over the D’backs; Chris Iannetta hit a walk-off homer in the 11th, as the Mariners beat the Rays 6-5; Buster Posey drew a walk-off walk in the 13th to give the Giants a 5-4 win over the Jays; Lorenzo Cain went 1-for-2 with 2 walks, scored a run and drove in 2 more as the Royals bested the Yankees 7-3; Jackie Bradley Jr hit a 3-run homer and a 2-run homer the power the Red Sox past the A’s 13-3; Williams Perez of the Braves went 8 innings, giving up just 1 run on 2 hits, with 4 K’s and 0 walks, as Atlanta beat Philadelphia 5-1; McCutchen, Freese, Kang and Harrison all homered as the Pirates beat the Reds 5-4; Wei-Yin Chen struck 12 in 6 ⅓ innings as the Marlins beat the Brewers 3-2; and Jaime Garcia threw 7 innings of 2-run ball surrendering just 4 hits a walk, while striking out 8 to lead the Cardinals past the Angels 5-2.
