WHAT'S ON

96 Hours of EPIX

May 12, 2016 by Sling Staff

EPIX is free to all Sling TV users from May 12 thru 15. That’s 96 hours. So what can you watch on EPIX in 96 hours?

Warm up with a little something for the kids: the latest stop-motion animated feature from Aardman Studios, Shaun the Sheep, in which the barnyard has to save their farmer after a plan to get a day off goes wrong. (Thursday May 12, 8pm ET)

Then move into the weekend with the television premiere of Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg in American Ultra, an irreverent action comedy from the writer of Chronicle. (Friday May 13, 8pm ET)

Keep it rolling with the world premiere of an all-new stand-up comedy special from Michael Ian Black, formerly of The State, Stella, and Wet Hot American Summer: Michael Ian Black: Noted Expert. (Friday May 13, 10pm ET)

Saturday, catch the television premiere of the latest entry in the most reliable action movie franchise of the last 20 years, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (Saturday May 14, 8pm ET)

And on Sunday, you won’t want to miss the premiere of Under the Gun, a feature-length documentary about the stalemate in the gun-control debate and both sides’ differing responses to recent mass shootings. (Sunday May 15, 8pm ET)

That’s nine hours down – so what are you going to do with the other 85? You’d be crazy not to dip into EPIX deep VOD library, which just so happens to have recently added eleven (11) James Bond flicks – four Connerys, four Moores, two Brosnans, and a Dalton, to be exact – and has more cheesy old horror flicks than you can shake a stick at. What better way to spend Friday the 13th than digging into classics like Oasis of the Zombies, A Virgin Among The Living Dead, The Bloodsucker Leads the Dance, The Mistresses of Dr. Jekyll, and of course the immortal The Sadistic Baron Von Claus?

Not into Bond or campy horror? No problem: the EPIX library is loaded with recent hits and old classics, like Terminator: Genysis, Love and Mercy, Ghost World, Standing in the Shadows of Motown, Airplane and Airplane II: The Sequel, Election, Blood Simple, Top Gun, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and about a million more.

Or maybe stand-up comedy is more your thing: EPIX has original comedy specials on-demand from talents like Marc Maron, Jim Norton, Lisa Lampanelli, and Jim Breuer.

We’re up to 56 hours of free amusement, and while it would be irresponsible to recommend any more – you’ve got to sleep sometime – suffice to say we’ve only scratched the surface. Enjoy the free preview, and if you find more stuff than you can watch in four days, subscribe to the Hollywood Extra add-on pack for just five bucks a month!
