Last night in baseball, Marcus Semien’s 3-run homer in the 2nd inning off Tim Lincecum was the big blow in the A’s 5-4 win over the Angels; Joe Panik hit a bases-loaded triple, and Mac Williamson had an RBI single and a solo homer to power the Giants past the Pirates 5-3; Cameron Maybin motored home on Steve Cishek’s wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th to give the Tigers a 5-4 walkoff win against the Mariners; the Phillies’ Cesar Hernandez went 4-for-4 with 3 runs, and Freddy Galvis tripled and homered for a total of 5 RBI to vanquish the Twins 7-3; Xander Bogaerts drove in Mookie Betts to give the Red Sox an 8-7 walkoff win in 10 innings over the White Sox; Adonis Garcia’s 2-run blast in the 8th was the difference in the Braves 4-3 defeat of the Mets; Derek Norris’ 3-run shot in the 6th put the Padres up for good in their 7-4 win over the Reds; Giancarlo Stanton and Marcell Ozuna each homered as the Marlins handed the Cubs their 4th consecutive loss, by a score of 4-2; and Zack Greinke went 1-for-2, stole a base and scored 2 runs, and Nick Ahmed’s RBI single in the top of the 9th was the winning margin as the Diamondbacks’ bested the Rockies 7-6.
