Across America on Thursday, James McCann went 4-for-5 with a double, a home, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI to lead the Tigers to an 8-5 victory over the Twins; the Rays beat the Red Sox 2-1 for their second consecutive come-from-behind 1-run victory; Max Scherzer spun another gem, fanning 10 over 8 shutout innings of 2-hit ball as the Nationals blanked the Orioles 4-0; Mike Trout went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI to lift the Angels over the Blue Jays 6-3; Jarrod Dyson made one of the prettiest catches you’ll ever see, and Alcides Escobar had a homer, with 2 runs and 2 RBI, to lead the Royals past the Marlins 5-2; Alejandro De Aza went 2-for-5 with a homer and 5 RBI, and Seth Lugo pitched 5 shutout innings as the Mets beat up on the Cardinals 10-6; the Rangers pounded the Indians 9-0 behind 8 shutout innings from Cole Hamels, and 3-run homers by Carlos Gomez and Adrian Beltre; Todd Frazier hit a 2-run single in the 7th to tie it, and then an RBI single in the 9th to give the White Sox a 7-6 walk-off win over the Mariners; Andrew McCutchen may be awaking from his slumber, as he hit a solo homer in the first, an RBI single in the 3rd, and another RBI single in the 10th to give the Pirates a 3-2 win over the Brewers; Matt Wisler pitched 8 innings, giving up just 1 run on 2 hits and 3 walks , while fanning 4, as the Braves beat the Diamondbacks 3-1; and Matt Moore came within one of a no-hitter, giving up a single with 2 outs in the 9th, as the Giants blanked the Dodgers 4-0.
