MLB on Sling: All of Thursday’s Action on FOX Sports Regional Networks

In Major League Baseball action across the land Wednesday, Carlos Correa scored twice and drove in a run as the Astros beat the Pirates 5-4; Ryan Braun hit 2 homers and had 3 RBI to power the Brewers’ 7-1 defeat of the Rockies; Kendall Graveman allowed 1 run over 6 ⅔ innings, as the A’s scored all their runs in the 2nd to beat the Indians 5-1; Masahiro Tanaka pitched 7 scoreless innings, and rookie sensation Gary Sanchez hit his 9th homer in 19 games as the Yankees blanked the Mariners 5-0; Ben Zobrist went 2-for-4, scored twice and drove in a pair in the Cubs’ 6-3 win over the Padres; Manny Machado went 4-for-6 with a home run, scored twice and drove in four runs to lift the Orioles past the Nationals 10-8; the Angels beat the Blue Jays 8-2 behind 6 shutout innings from Matt Shoemaker, and Albert Pujols’ 4-for-4 night included career homer 584, moving him into sole possession of 10th place on the all-time home run list ; Texas starter Yu Darvish hit his first career home run, but it was Adrian Beltre’s RBI double in the 8th that was the difference in the Rangers’ 6-5 defeat of the Reds; Jose Fernandez struck out 9 over 7 scoreless innings, went 2-for-2 and scored a run to lead the Marlins past the Royals 3-0; David Ortiz became the oldest man to hit 30 home runs in a season, and set a Boston record with his 10th 100-RBI seasons, but it wasn’t enough as the Red Sox fell to the Rays 4-3 in 11, with the winning run scoring on a throwing error; Aaron Altherr had a pair of hits, a pair of RBI, and scored a run in the Phillies 5-3 win over the White Sox; the Tigers beat up the Twins 9-4, as Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles, a homer, 2 runs, and 2 RBI; St. Louis chased Jacob deGrom early, scoring 5 runs on 12 hits, including 3 homers by the 5th inning, while Carlos Martinez went 8 innings, allowing just a single run as the Cardinals trounced the Mets 8-1; Brandon Drury’s sac fly in the 11th gave the Diamondbacks an 11-10 win over the Braves; and Rich Hill was dominant in his debut with Los Angeles, scattering 5 hits over 6 scoreless innings, and Justin Turner handled all the scoring with a solo homer in the 4th, as the Dodgers beat the Giants 1-0.
