WHAT'S ON

This Week On Sling TV

It’s one thing to go see a place and read how things used to be there off of a brass plaque; it’s something else to see it all as it was, which Time Traveling with Brian Unger does with the help of a little CGI. The show premieres with back-to-back episodes on the building of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the dawn of the skyscraper age in New York, the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona, and the circa-1940s “divorce ranches” of Las Vegas, Nevada. (10pm and 10:30pm Monday, Travel Channel)

An olde-tyme pharmacy-slash-lunch counter presents a unique challenge for Restaurant: Impossible, as the deceased proprietor’s daughter faces the daunting task of restoring it to its former glory despite badly understocked store shelves, rotting floors, and a severely depleted customer base. (10pm Wednesday, Food Network)

CNN airs all three parts of Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s documentary series about the changing laws and mores around marijuana Friday night in reverse order: Weed 3: The Marijuana Revolution, followed by Weed 2: Cannabis Madness, and then Weed: Dr. Sanjay Gupta Reports. (10pm, 11pm, and 12am Friday, CNN)

Lifetime dramatizes the true story of Michelle Knight with the made-for-TV movie Cleveland Abduction, depicting the 21-year-old single mom’s kidnapping and captivity, along with two other women, at the hands of Ariel Castro. (8pm Saturday, Lifetime)

If last week’s hysterical season premiere of Silicon Valley is any indication, season 2 is going to be even bigger and even better than last year’s phenomenal rookie season, now that Pied Piper has largely moved past R&D and is now squarely in the world of financing and marketing and business plans. (10pm Sunday, HBO)

With only five episodes left to go, it’s safe to say that fans of Mad Men will be glued to their televisions every Sunday until the finale. Last week Don finalized his divorce from Megan and ended the episode in a (literally) empty apartment. Making predictions about what will happen on this show is always a losing game, but you can bet we’ll be watching. (10pm Sunday, AMC)
