The old saying, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” has never seemed so real until after watching the first two episodes of the fourth season of Bates Motel. The truth of the matter is, Norma and Norman are one and the same – they’re both off their rockers – which has begun to ring alarmingly true as the show progresses.
At the end of season three, we saw Norman (Freddie Highmore) suffer a complete mental break after he took on the full persona of Mother and killed Bradley. But, the transformation into Mother – who is played by Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga – has skewed his mental state even more, which leads to a lot of tension and instability from Norman and the real Norma (Farmiga).

If you want to watch the rise of the Antichrist but don’t have the patience to keep up with the debates, then A&E has just the show for you. Enter Damien, a continuation of the 1976 horror classic The Omen, premiering tonight at 10pm after the season premiere of Bates Motel. It’s a little – well, a lot – schlocky, but that generally goes hand-in-hand with the genre (e.g., Sleepy Hollow and Supernatural). Though the pilot lingers too long on unnecessary build-up and skimps on plot advancement, it’s nonetheless a promising start for the series.

Reality television thrives on conflict. A reality show about people getting along swimmingly would be pretty boring, which is why as far as I know there’s never been one.
Which is why A&E’s new show Neighbors With Benefits is so promising: it follows a suburban community in Ohio where more than a few of the couples are into what they constantly refer to as The Lifestyle. What is The Lifestyle? It means that though most of these couples are married, all are in committed relationships, and some even have kids, they are all swingers, wife-swappers, in open marriages, whatever you want to call it. What could possibly go wrong?
