EXCLUSIVE: Stars of The Expanse Encourage Having Change of Underpants Handy For Two-Episode Season Two Premiere
At the end of season one of The Expanse, the three threads we were following – the survivors of the Canterbury, the possible attack on Earth, and the case of Julie Mao (Florence Faivre) – were finally braided together. As Miller (Thomas Jane) left the space station to team up with Holden (Steven Strait) and the remaining Canterbury crew, the stakes were raised with the introduction of the protomolecule – a mutating disease that kills anyone in its path.
So, where does that leave us?
Season two kicks off with an hour-and-a-half premiere without missing a beat. We pick right up with the after-effects of last season’s finale, from discovering the protomolecule on Eros to Miller and Amos having a, um, conversation about Amos gunning down Sematimba. The show continues to widen the net on the danger and uncertainty that comes with co-existing with inhabitants of other planets.
If you’re still teetering on whether or not to join the fight, the simple fact that The Expanse is one of the few (perhaps the only) science-fiction shows that is actual science set in an alternate reality. Like The Big Bang Theory, the writers of The Expanse take time to work with real scientists to make sure they’re giving an accurate representation of what it’s like to live in space.
Stars Cas Anvar and Wes Chatham sat down with me to talk about the rollercoaster that is season two not just for Alex and Amos but for the entire crew.
