In the world of baseball on Monday, LA sent 7 different guys across the plate, and Jose De Leon pitched 5 innings of 2-run ball to lead the Dodgers to an 8-2 win over the Yankees; Anthony Rendon’s 3-run shot in the 2nd inning was the big blow as the Nationals beat up on the Mets 8-1; the Phillies bested the Pirates 6-2 behind 6 ⅓ innings of 1-run ball from Jeremy Hellickson; Melky Cabrera’s pinch-hit home run in the 8th was the difference in the Blue Jays 3-2 victory over the Rays; David Ortiz hit his 536th career home run, moving him into a tie with Mickey Mantle for 17th all-time, in the Red Sox 12-2 beatdown of the Orioles; Daniel Norris fanned 11 over 6 ⅓ innings of 2-run ball, and Ian Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera each homered to put the Tigers on top 4-2 over the Twins; Tyler Flowers hit a pair of 2-run singles, and Nick Markakis hit a homer to go along with 3 runs and 2 RBI, as the Braves defeated the Marlins 12-7; Keyvius Sampson and 3 relievers combined to strikeout 11 and give up just 6 hits and 2 walks in the Reds’ 3-0 blanking of the Brewers; the A’s humiliated the Royals 16-3, with Stephen Vogt leading the charge with 3 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs, and 2 RBI; Avisail Garcia went 4-for-5 with a homer, and 3 runs scored as the White Sox beat the Indians 11-4; Rougned Odor’s 3rd RBI of the night came on a solo home run in the 12th to give the Rangers a 4-3 win over the Astros; Kyle Hendricks took a no-hitter into the 9th before giving up a solo homer, lowering his MLB-best ERA to 2.03, giving the Cubs a 4-1 win over the Cardinals; the Rockies outgunned the Diamondbacks 12-9 thanks to Yasmany Tomas’ 4-for-5 night that included a grand slam, 3 runs scored, and 5 RBI; Ariel Miranda pitched 6 innings of 3-hit 1-run ball, and Leonys Martin went 4-for-4 with 3 runs scored to lead the Mariners over the Angels 8-1; and Hector Sanchez hit a 2-run homer, and Paul Clemens threw 5 innings of shutout ball as the Padres blanked the Giants 4-0.
