Across Major League Baseball on Sunday, Tampa did all its scoring via homers by Logan Forsythe, Brad Miller, and Corey Dickerson, as the Rays beat the Yankees 4-2; the Red Sox out-slugged the Blue Jays 11-8, as Jackie Bradley Jr. and David Ortiz each launched 3-run homers; Chris Tillman notched his 16th win by allowing 1 run on 4 hits and a walk over 6 innings to lead the Orioles past the Tigers 3-1; Jose Urena pitched 8 ⅔ shutout innings as the Marlins blanked the Dodgers 3-0; the Mets pounded the Braves 10-3, the big blow being Yoenis Cespedes’ grand slam in the 3rd; Anthony Rendon hit an RBI double and then scored on a passed ball in the 7th to put the Nationals out of reach of the Phillies by a score of 3-2; Brandon Finnegan scattered 5 hits and 5 walks over 5 scoreless innings, and Tyler Holt hit a bases-clearing triple as the Reds blanked the Pirates 8-0; Ian Kennedy and 3 relievers combined to hold Chicago to 2 hits, and Kendrys Morales and Eric Hosmer each hit solo homers as the Royals shutout the White Sox 2-0; Corey Kluber fanned 10 over 7 innings of 1-run ball, and Carlos Santana hit a 3-run dinger for a 7-1 Indians win over the Twins; the Brewers squeaked past the Cardinals 2-1, as Zach Davies pitched 7 ⅓ innings of 1-run ball and Ryan Braun hit a solo shot in the 9th; the Angels out-homered the Rangers 3-2, with LA’s Andrelton Simmons’ second tater of the day making the difference; Ketel Marte’s RBI single in the 9th gave the Mariners a 3-2 win over the A’s; the Giants beat the Diamondbacks 5-3, as Matt Moore fanned 11 over 7 innings of 2-run ball; Mark Reynolds’ solo homer in the 10th gave the Rockies 3-2 win over the Padres; and the Cubbies beat the Astros 9-5, with Addison Russell going 3-for-4 with a homer, 3 runs, and 2 RBI.
