In baseball on Thursday, Eddie Rosario went 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored, and Brian Dozier hit a 2-run single to lead the Twins past the Tigers 5-1; Carlos Sanchez’s RBI single gave the White Sox a 2-1 walkoff win over the Indians; Evan Longoria hit a 3-run homer in the 1st, and a 2-run single in the 4th to power the Rays’ 7-6 victory over the Orioles; Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-5 with 2 homers, 3 runs and 3 RBI as the Pirates pounded the Phillies 15-2; Hanley Ramirez’s 3-run homer capped a 5-run 9th and gave the Red Sox a 7-5 walkoff win over the Yankees; Stephen Vogt had a homer and 5 RBI as the A’s buried the Royals 14-5; Scooter Gennett’s pinch-hit 2-run double in the 7th put the game out of reach, as the Brewers beat the Cubs 5-4; MItch Haniger’s 3-run homer in the 6th was the big blow in the Diamondbacks’ 7-3 defeat of the Dodgers; Russell Martin hit a 3-run homer and JA Happ improved to 19-4 with a 6-inning 2-run performance as the Blue Jays slapped around the Angels 7-2; and Johnny Cueto threw a complete-game 5-hitter, and had an RBI sac fly, to lead the Giants over the Cardinals 6-2.
