Yesterday across Major League Baseball, Ichiro Suzuki finally got hit number 3,000, a 7th-inning triple off Chris Rusin, as the Marlins defeated the Rockies 10-7; just hours after Alex Rodridguez announced that this Friday would be his last game with the Yankees, Masahiro Tanaka led the Bombers to a 3-2 win over the Indians with 6 innings of 1-run ball, while striking out 8; Neil Walker’s 2-run homer in the 9th was the difference in the Mets’ 3-1 defeat of the Tigers; Miguel Sano homered twice and drive in 4 runs to power the Twins past the Rays 6-3; Tanner Roark outdueled Madison Bumgarner as the Nationals beat the Giants 1-0 on Wilson Ramos’ solo shot in the 7th; leadoff hitter Billy Hamilton went 3-for-4 with a walk, stole 4 bases (on 5 attempts), and scored 3 runs in the Reds’ 7-3 victory over the Pirates; the Orioles pounded the White Sox 10-2 thanks to Manny Machado’s 3 home runs and 7 RBI; Yu Darvish pitched 7 scoreless and Rougned Odor hit a 2-run double in the 11th to lift the Rangers over the Astros 5-3; Kendrys Morales’ 7th-inning grand slam wa the big blow in the Royals’ 7-1 defeat of the Blue Jays; the Braves scored 3 in the first and 3 more in the second to best the Cardinals 6-3; Kris Bryant and Jorge Soler hit solo homers in the Cubs 3-1 win over the A’s; James Paxton went 8 ⅓, giving up just an unearned run on 5 hits and a walk, while fanning 6 in the Mariners 3-1 victory over the Angels; Mike Lamb went 3-for-5 with a homer, 2 runs, and 2 RBI to lead the Diamondbacks past the Brewers 9-3; the Phillies beat the Padres 6-5 as Odubel Herrera had 3 hits, including a solo homer; and in his big league debut, Rob Segedin had 3 hits and 4 RBI as the Dodgers beat the Red Sox 8-5.
