Last night in Major League Baseball Jake Lamb’s 2-run homer in the first inning proved to be the difference in the Diamondbacks’ 3-1 win over the Phillies; Jeff Locke and the Pirates bullpen outdueled Giants starter Madison Bumgarner for a 1-0 victory; the Red Sox failed to plate a run in the 9th after loading the bases with nobody out, and then fell in the 10th by a score of 3-1 as the White Sox scored a pair on a Jose Abreu double; Carlos Santana, Francisco Lindor and Juan Uribe all homered as the Indians beat the Rays 7-4; Justin Upton’s walkoff homer in the 12th gave the Tigers an 8-7 win over the Mariners; Mark Reynolds hit a pair of solo homers to lead the Rockies pas the Marlins 5-3; the Rangers pen pitched 4 ⅔ shutout innings and Shin-Soo Choo stroked a 2-run double to vanquish the Orioles 5-3; Brandon Moss and Jhonny Peralta each homered in the Cardinals’ 3-2 victory over the Cubs; the Astros pounded out 10 runs on 15 hits and 6 walks to beat the Angels 10-7; and Clayton Kershaw gave up 1 run on hits in 7 innings, while fanning 8 and walking 0 in the Dodgers 4-1 win over the Nationals.
